Twitter will eliminate 336 jobs, or 8 percent of its workforce – Yahoo Finance Spain

Washington, Oct 13 (EFE) .- The social network Twitter announced today that it will eliminate 336 jobs, or 8% of its global workforce, within a plan restructuring of the new phase which began with the appointment of Jack Dorsey as CEO of the company.

“This is not easy, but it is right. The world needs a strong Twitter and this is another step towards do it, “Dorsey said in a statement.

The company, born nine years ago, now has 4,100 employees worldwide.

With 300 million users, Twitter recorded revenues of $ 938 million in the first half of this year, but lost $ 299 million in that period and accumulated 1,900 million in the red since its creation.

Last week, the social network confirmed the appointment of Dorsey as its permanent CEO, a position he had held on an interim basis for three months.

During that time, Dorsey eliminated the 140-character limit for direct messages and announced incorporating a buy button and an initiative to make contributions to election campaigns in the United States through the network.
