Why follow up business support iOS – TechTarget ES

Apple’s iOS continues to drive the majority of mobile devices in the business world, but Android still claims his share of the business area.

BlackBerry once dominated the business mobility, but has not been able to hold its ground against the onslaught of Apple. Although Microsoft offered Windows Mobile operating system for free to smartphone manufacturers, it has seen little success in business. Not surprisingly, the battle remains mainly between Android and iOS.

The Mobility Index Good Technology report for Q4 2014, made from its own customers, showed iOS has 73% of activations of mobile devices, while Android fell to 25% and Windows again won only 1%. That number rose to iOS 7% compared to the previous two quarters.

sounded so promising as new features, many were quite limited in scope. For example, IT could only restrict AirDrop in supervised mode devices. Combined with the reputation of the operating system to be safer than Android, the new management features convinced many managers to provide support for iOS.

With the release of iOS 8 Apple added more management features. Administrators could send electronic books to its users, block specific areas on a device and control which files could access an application. The new operating system also endured VPN on demand and application as well as extended use of access codes, automatic enrollment to MDM and many other features to keep smiling at you.

There are even more in the new iOS 9 including changes in volume purchasing program Apple applications to purchase in bulk. In the new version, organizations can buy applications without tying them to a single Apple ID of a user. IT has complete control of how you install, configure, manage and update these applications.

Because iOS was making significant inroads in the business, suppliers began to create mobile apps Business class as Salesforce Roambi and iOS. Even Microsoft now offers iOS versions of its Office suite. Apple’s partnership with IBM to create business applications should further fuel the desire of the company to IOS devices.

Android is still fighting

As the business enterprise support for iOS has increased steadily, Google Android has been moving in the same direction. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Google was already thinking in terms of enterprise adoption by introducing whole device encryption and VPN API.

Lollipop In Android 5.0, Google expanded MDM features, and although Android continued to offer a cheaper alternative to iOS, TI was still not convinced.

Google responded IT doubts Android for Work, a management platform that supports both devices owned by employees as provided by the company, while allowing remote management and simplifies application deployment. Android for Work also enables third-party MDM tools can enroll Android devices in bulk, and manage business applications and separate data applications and personal data on a device.

depends on device manufacturers implement additional features in a consistent and seamless way. Many manufacturers focus only on the consumer market and are more concerned about the bells and whistles that by business characteristics. In addition, Google is at the mercy of providers to deploy updates to devices that have been sold, which often takes a long time. Android vendors may even modify the operating system so that some models are permanently locked into an old operating system.

No matter how prevalent is now the business support iOS, Apple will not be sitting quietly, waiting for his opponents to catch up. The lines have been drawn and the battle has begun, but the ultimate winners are yet to be
