WASHINGTON (Reuters) .- The word “big” does not do justice to the giant long-necked dinosaur that lived in Santa Cruz about 77 million years ago. “Colossal” or “huge” would be a more accurate description of this monster, named by scientists as Dreadnoughtus schrani . According to a study that was published yesterday in Scientific Reports, it is a fairly complete and well-preserved fossil, which weighed about 60 tons and measuring 26 meters long, with a neck of 11.3 meters and a tail of 8.7 meters . Paleontologist Kenneth Lacovara of Drexel University in Philadelphia, discovered the dinosaur and led the effort for excavation and analysis. According to Lacovara, despite being vegetarian, Dreadnoughtus (“elque fears nothing”) was not a pushover. Only his stomach had a larger size than a horse.
is the weight that scientists calculated that may have reached this issue had not yet finished growing. .
