Arrested in Thailand one of the founders of Pirate Bay – HOME

One of the download portal founders of The Pirate Bay, Hans Fredrik Lennart Neij, convicted five years ago in Sweden for a crime of hacking has been arrested in northern Thailand, reported local media Tuesday.

The hacker Swedish, 36, known as Tiamo was arrested Monday in Nong Khai while trying to get to Thailand by road with his wife from Laos, where he has lived underground in recent years, according the newspaper The Nation .

Neij was convicted in 2009 in Stockholm to a year in prison for a crime against the law of copyright with Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, Peter Sunde and Carl Lundström, also founders of one of the largest portals in the world for sharing and downloading files.

Warg, 30, known as Anakata , was not presented to the trial of appeal, and escaped to Cambodia, where he was arrested and extradited to Sweden in 2012.

After serving his sentence, Warg was extradited to Denmark, where last week a court sentenced him to three and a half years prison for hacking into the company that hosts several police records.

Meanwhile, Peter Sunde was arrested last June in Stockholm (Sweden). His conviction was pending since 2012, when he escaped after being sentenced to eight months in prison.

The four responsible for The Pirate Bay were originally sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of 32 million crowns (four million). An appeals court later reduced the prison sentences.

The portal was launched in 2003 with links to music files and stored movies on the computers of other . Subsidiaries of Swedish music and film companies took the company to court and claimed damages for loss of income. Despite this, the page still works.
