Caracas, April 17, 2015 .- The dog lovers are in luck: it was discovered that these quadrupeds we really want. According to a scientific research Azabu University Sagamihara, Japan, our furry pets love us like babies to her mother. This unconditional love could be the reason why these animals are so prized by man.
Research published in the journal Science says that the love between dogs and humans extends hormonal level causing segregation of the hormone oxytocin.
Oxytocin, dubbed ‘love hormone’, is an important sociological mechanism that creates links between humans. Their levels increase dramatically over the bodies of two people who feel mutual affection, such as when a mother looks at her baby. The hormone is also one of the main components of romantic relationships. It is released when we hug, we kiss and make love.
To perform their experiment, the researchers Kikusui and Nagasawa invited 30 friends with their pets. The team placed each dog-owner couples in separate rooms. Then the interactions between them were recorded on video camera for about 30 minutes.
After this time, the scientists measured oxytocin levels in the urine of dogs and humans. The study helped discover that the more you look the dog in the eyes of its owner, feels more pleasurable sensation. The same often happens with children, experiencing true worship by their mothers.
“The findings support the existence of a link between species by oxytocin and facilitated by the exchange of glances,” they said.
Note that oxytocin has major implications for social life. Without it, affection, trust and altruism, as we know, never have been possible.
This may explain why it is considered that dogs are useful in treating autism and help people suffering PTSD.
