Some brands have budgets almost impossible to build a modern and dazzling, others have historic buildings that house its past. At SEAT, the A122 old factory ship of the Free Zone, an almost hidden place where they managed to earn and save from oblivion hundreds of models of the only Spanish car brand, does not have the cache to be promoted to that end. So, why not hold a competition to design and build a digital museum with the sole purpose?
For 48 hours, twenty young students of architecture from different Spanish universities and twenty other German centers formed 17 equipment and imbibed and breathed the atmosphere of a cosmopolitan city like Barcelona, in the unique environment of the Port Vell, trying to show the world the past of the firm today Martorell summarizing its history since its founding in 1950 hinting at which it shall be directed in the future.
It was a ‘Archithon’ or gathering of architects, paraphrasing the ‘hackathon’ programmers. Some of them were not known, were not even of the same nationality or faculty were not even fans of the automotive world or even own a car as one of the winners. But in record time they have been able to unite, work and redirect your thoughts toward a common goal: to see your project come true. Because in just four months, SEAT presented at the Frankfurt show appearance and the first inner strokes his Digital Museum.
Many barely slept during those two days, some suffered technical problems and had to explain word what his idea, supported by videos and photos. As recognized by Christian Stein, director of Marketing at SEAT: “Your work has far exceeded our expectations All the projects have been able to enter fully into the digital world and have very innovative ideas not only have known to shape the outside.. the virtual space but have provided ideas for the visit of its interior. “
” The winning project is based on a cloud-a cloud-which can be moved from one city to another. It seems a project that fits fully with the values of our brand, very international, which explains the history of SEAT very original way. It represents a complete innovation, since it has not been anything like it in the digital realm. This is exactly what we wanted with the Archithon “Stein said.
The winning project, called ‘SEAT Cloud Museum’ was presented by Anton Sahler (Technische Universität Darmstadt), Ksymena Borczynska (University of Kassel) and Patricia Loges (Technische Universität Berlin) , that they have taken a prize of 6,000 euros for two weeks and will develop his idea in the SEAT.
The second prize went to Alice Santacana (Polytechnic University of Catalonia) and Mahmoud Alkawadri (Universities of Damascus and Berlin) and the third prize to Maria and Matias Rico Friend of the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
