Samsung working on a new WiFi standard at 60 GHz – La Voz de Galicia

Samsung has announced it is working on developing a new standard WiFi network, the 802.11ad, which is five times the speed of current standard navigation.

The new wireless network standard developed by the South Korean uses 60 GHz waves to transmit data instead of using the 2.4 or 5 GHz. This is a data transmission rate up to 4.5 Gbps (Gigabits per second). With this speed, it would be possible to send a video file via WiFi 1GB in just three seconds.

“Samsung has successfully overcome barriers to commercialization of WiFi technology 60 GHz band and is eager to commercialize this breakthrough technology, “explained the center’s director of DMC R & D at Samsung Electronics, Yong Chan Kim manufacturer blog, Samsung Tomorrow . “New and innovative changes await the next generation of Samsung devices, while opening new possibilities for the future development of WiFi technology.”

As explained in his blog, this new standard WiFi technology eliminates interference of the transmission channel by matching the theoretical and actual delivery speeds of data, regardless of the number of networked devices.

South Korea plans pass start marketing this new technology ‘at least next year “and intend to implement the 802.11ad standard’ visual and medical devices” as well as the equipment of telecommunication systems, the development of intelligent home Samsung and other initiatives related to the Internet of things.
