The Australian Craig Wright, who proved to be the inventor of Bitcoin, is an enigmatic businessman who for years managed to mislead those who tracked the origin of the virtual currency. Little is known about this computer engineer, 45, which prohibits publication without express permission of any excerpt from his blog.
Wright took the invention of Bitcoin, presenting a “test” technique of his own, but not overcome skepticism of the community of monetary cryptology. Outside Organisation, a company public relations collaborated with him, describes him as “an inventor and university” that hid his identity under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto.
The specialized internet portals Wired and Gizmodo had reported last December tracks that showed him as the possible mastermind of Bitcoin.
In their statements to three international media, said he felt forced to reveal their identity to preserve relatives harassed since journalists.
“I do not seek money. I do not seek the glory. I do not want to be loved by anyone. You want to leave me alone, “he said in statements to the BBC.
Wright graduated with honors from the Australian Charles Sturt University (CSU), which has campuses in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. He accumulated diplomas: has master’s degrees in network management systems, specializing in information technology and security management systems.
He maintained his academic ties, teaching courses as associate professor at CSU between 2011 and 2014.
But his alma mater refused any pronouncement on the Bitcoin. “The CSU can not comment on Wright’s extracurricular activities and will make no further comment on their studies or work,” said the institution.
Until recently, the elusive Wright ten companies ran over, some of them specialized in criptomonedas, in July 2015 but withdrew twelve of them, according to the British newspaper The Guardian.
Hard to locate
The program that generates the virtual currency was conceived in 2009 and for years his paternity was subject to all kinds of conjecture.
According to Wired, attention turned first to Wright when a source close began to disclose documents addressed to a certain Gwern Branwen, pseudonym of an independent researcher and analyst of “dark web” (DarkWeb) which is not indexed in the search engines.
Wired Branwen transmitted to details that showed a clear connection between Nakamoto and Wright, he said the journal. But the Australian had no desire to be unmasked.
Wired sent an email to ask for an interview, suggesting that he was aware of his secret. But a few hours later he received a strange response (from Tessiershpool@AnonymousSpeech.com), ensuring that the IP address (identification number) was based in Panama and managed by Vistomail, the same service used by Satoshi Nakamoto to present the Bitcoin.org site .
At the time, Wright lived in Sydney with his wife and two children, attending a public school, told their neighbors to Australian media, who described a family a bit reclusive but ordinary. Wright would have departed to London shortly before his home was the subject of an orderly requisitioning by the tax authorities.?
