The social networking site, Twitter, hired the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for ten million dollars to analyze over the next five years all the tweets from that which became operational on service in 2006.
The MIT will use the investment to create the Twitter social laboratory machines that seek to understand how information is transmitted through the Network.
“As part of the new program, Twitter provide total access real-time stream of public tweets, as well as archives of all posts from the beginning,” said the MIT Media Lab .
Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter, said that “this investment the company took the opportunity to further analyze the role of Twitter and other platforms in the way people communicate “.
Costolo said the goal is to discover the effect it can have quick and easy communication and apply research results to complex social issues.
