Apple gets the top spot in sales of smartphones: study – Terra Colombia

Apple regained its leading position in the market sales of smartphones in the fourth quarter of last year, a market research firm said Tuesday.

The Gartner report placed Apple with 20.4% of the market thanks to sales of its iPhones big screen. In total, the US giant sold 74.8 million units in the period.

The South Korean Samsung saw its market share to 19.9%, with a volume of 73 million units.

Other studies show a virtual tie between the two major cellular vendors in the world.

“Samsung continues to trouble catching the fall of its share of the smartphone market, which reached its peak in the third quarter of 2013, “said Gartner analyst Anshul Gupta.

According to the firm, Apple dominates the market for cellular and premium Chinese manufacturers are gaining ground in the market of cheap smartphones.

Gartner also reported that global smartphone sales rose 28.4% in 2014-1200 million units, accounting for two thirds of sales of phones in the world
