Curiosity has short circuit – The Universal

The National Administration of Aeronautics and Space ( NASA , by its English acronym) announced that the space agency engineers perform an analysis to investigate a Short in the Rover Curiosity .

Curiosity Project director of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory of NASA in Pasadena, California, Jim Erickson said: “We are conducting tests on the vehicle in its current configuration before moving the arm,” which “gives us the best opportunity to determine where the power failure occurred. ”

On its website, in Spanish NASA states that the Mars Rover Curiosity remain motionless for several days as the investigation is made, after which came into protection mode failures last February 27.

Notes that the telemetry received indicated that there was a transient short circuit and the vehicle continued its programmed response, stopping the activity of the arm in place at the time of the irregularity.

When the fault occurred, the Rover was conducting a first step in the transfer of rock dust collected by the hole in the arm laboratory instruments within the Rover.

Refers to a transient short in some systems in the Rover would have little effect on the operations of Curiosity, others could lead the team to restrict the use of a mechanism.
