Tim Cook wanted to donate part of his liver to Steve Jobs – CNNExpansión.com

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) – In 2009, when Steve Jobs lived his last years, cancer patient, Tim Cook gave his boss a part of his liver.

This reveals a forthcoming biography of the founder of Apple, “Becoming Steve Jobs”. Several fragments were published in the business magazine Fast Company this week.

Cook, concerned about the fragile condition of Jobs was to have blood tests, according to the biography. It turned out that his blood type matched that of Jobs. Upon further examination, doctors determined that Cook could donate the creator of Apple a portion of his liver transplantation and had a high probability of success for both.

The liver is an organ that regenerates, so Cook liver would grow back to full size, as it would also make the piece of liver to donate to Jobs.

But Jobs refused, tells biographer.

“‘I stopped immediately, almost before the words were out of my mouth,” Cook said. “No,” Jobs said. “Never let you do that. I will never do that. ‘”

Jobs subsequently received a liver transplant from another person but died of cancer in 2011.

Cook said the decision to Jobs rejecting his liver was altruistic.

“Steve yelled only four or five times during the 13 years we met, and this was one of them,” Cook said.
