NEW YORK The Museum of Natural History in New York exhibited this Friday, and permanently, a colossal replica titanosaurian, considered one of the largest dinosaur ever discovered.

With a length of 37.2 meters, paleontologists have inferred that this herbivore had a weight of 77 tonnes, equivalent to 14 or 15 African elephants.

The discovery is so new that the name titanosaurus is only a temporary nickname, while the official name is decided.

The replica, which is shown in New York, is fiber glass and was inspired by the discovery that a group of paleontologists made in 2014 in the region of Patagonia in Argentina.

The fossils titanosaurus displayed belong to an animal that lived in the forests of what Patagonia is now between 100 and 95 million years ago during the late Cretaceous period, and represents one of the largest dinosaur ever discovered in history.

“The exciting exhibition offers the public dramatically one of the latest and greatest discoveries of paleontology, a field that is now experiencing rapid development, “said the president of the Museum of Natural History of the United States, Ellen Futter.

The Vice President of the Museum Natural History Michael Novacek, said fossils Titanosaurs have been discovered on every continent, which has helped demonstrate the profound diversity that existed between this group of dinosaurs.
