Amazon has a new e-book reader: the Kindle Oasis – La Nacion (Argentina)

Abandon the traditional design another that leaves a thicker behind the screen to facilitate gripping area; adds a cover with an extra battery

Amazon introduced the eighth generation of its electronic book reader: it’s called Kindle Oasis, and is the first to have a design that leaves the classical tablet to go another in which one side of the device is thicker than the other, something that used Sony in its first tablet S and Lenovo with tablet 2 Pro Yoga.

the team keeps the screen 6 inch electronic ink, which uses the ambient light to light and easy on the eyes; also it has LEDs on the edge to read in low light; the company says it could add more LEDs which moved through all the thick edge electronic equipment, which allows thinner yet another edge to 3.4 mm. Yet the thickest point of the team is still thinner than previous models. The idea is to offer better ergonomics for use with one hand. Weighs 130 grams.

The display, as in the latest models, is monochromatic and touch, but the Kidle Oasis also adds two physical buttons to control reading.

The team It has Wi-Fi and 3G, and the company says the battery lasts a couple of weeks; it is possible to extend it with a cover, which adds a second battery (with a magnetic clip) and extends the range of 2 to 9 weeks. The Kindle Oasis will cost between 290 and 360 dollars, and will continue to sell the older models (the most economical is the Kindle for $ 80).

The company must convince readers that this Kindle is a alternative attractive compared to previous models (cheaper and with the same functionality), to tablets that offer more features for that price, and paper books.

in England, the five largest publishers (which have half the US market) say that in 2015 selling electronic books fell 2.4 percent to 47.9 million units. In the United States, last September the Association of Publishers American (AAP) He said sales of digital titles had fallen 10% in the first half of 2015, although others dispute those numbers, ensuring that grew publishing of digital works (is say, books that do not go through a publisher but use the tools offered by Amazon and others to publish works without intermediaries). No information on the volume of sales of electronic books in Argentina
