Spain will investigate data shared between Facebook/WhatsApp – Caracol Radio

The Spanish Agency of Protection of Data will investigate if the program announced recently for the exchange of personal data of users between WhatsApp and Facebook complies with the Spanish law of privacy.

The agency will review what information is collected by the messaging service WhatsApp among its users is sent to Facebook, for what purpose, how long it is kept, and what options are offered to users who wish to oppose, according to a statement released Wednesday.

The AEPD stated that he would work in coordination with their counterparts in Germany, Italy and Great Britain, have announced investigations similar.

Facebook bought the platform WhatsApp two years ago, and recently announced that the service would begin sharing user data with the social network, within a plan to synchronize the two businesses.
