Whatsapp enables calls between users – The Economist

The courier, Whatsapp, enabled calls for its users to carry through the platform. The function is currently only available for Android.

WhatsApp users can now make calls using the platform, although the service is only available for those with mobile devices with Android operating system, both using iOS will have to wait.

Information collected in specialized technology blogs have noted that this tool latest version of the application founded in 2009 by Ukrainian developer Jan Koum is necessary.

The free call function can only be used to have WiFi or mobile data, although it is important to consider that these calls consume data from the mobile network.

The launch of what could be a test mode to activate calls officially joins a series of changes announced by the company.

These changes highlights available for desktop version, announced in January this year, and the controversy two blue popcorn launched last November, which indicate when a message has been read by the recipient.

Jan Koum announced that until last January the firm sold the social network Facebook by 16,000 million, reported more than 700 million people subscribed to this application.
