Smarter children if they study surrounded by green spaces – EntornoInteligente

Children smarter if you study surrounded by green spaces / World / Learning with or without green spaces. It is not the same. According to a Spanish study, children enrolled in schools or parks around trees in the courtyard have better cognitive development than those without vegetation zones. “It’s the first time such a partnership in the world shows,” says Mark Nieuwenhuijsen, one of the researchers involved in this study and coordinator of Air Pollution Program at the Center for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL).

Along the director work, Payam Dadvand, and Jordi Sunyer, both researchers at the Center ally ISGlobal (CREAL) have made over a year four tests of cognitive memory (every three months) to nearly 2,600 elementary school children from various schools in Barcelona ( 36), aged between seven and 10 years. In parallel, via satellite, they were measured green spaces inside and outside schools.

The cognitive tests showed better results in schools with parks. CREAL
