Hackers announced a massive leak of user data of Ashley Madison, a web of contacts specializing in infidelity.
A group calling itself Team Impact said in a statement Tuesday that the owners of Web site had not yielded to their demands.
“Now everyone can see their data,” the statement said.
The Associated Press could not immediately determine the authenticity of documents published but security analysts who reviewed the information say they believe the leak is genuine. One of them, the CEO of Errata Security, Rob Graham, said he had counted more than 36 million accounts, although many appeared to be false, he said.
A call to the parent company of Ashley Madison, Canadian Avid Life Media Inc., immediately went unanswered. The hackers did not respond to messages.
