with 1,478 horsepower and a top speed of 420 kmh, the Bugatti Chiron not only car is the world’s most powerful production. It is also a marvel of engineering. These are some of the technologies under the hood

Our partners Jalopnik have a full overview of the features revealed by the debut of the Bugatti Chiron. Here we summarize the most spectacular:
Motor
the Chiron is a car the old fashioned way, in the sense that it does not integrate any electric motor like the latest hybrid sports. Instead, leading is a monstrous W16 engine made just two V8 aligned.
The setting is not much different from its predecessor, the Veyron, but the engineers of Volkswagen Group have had to resort to not a few tricks to increase power by 25% compared to Veyron. The engine has a new injector system introducing pressurized air and fuel in eight-cylinder powered by two turbo engines. In total there are 32 Micro-fuel and air introducing 60,000 liters of air into the engine every minute. The whole system has a new cooling system that Bugatti has not specified.
Exhaust and transmission
Built in titanium and completely isolated, the exhaust system of Chiron alone is not more larger than the Veyron. Its catalyst system is six times larger than that of an average car. Its creators explain that the internal area of the two catalysts is equivalent to about 30 football fields.
The seven-speed transmission is completely new, although specific changes have not specified at launch. What is certain is uniformly transmitting power to all four wheels. It makes sense when you consider that nearly 1,500 horses for two wheels are probably too many horses.
body
Unlike the Veyron, whose back was metal, the whole body Chiron is composed of a single piece of carbon fiber takes four weeks modeled. The torsional stiffness is equivalent to the defendant by the prototypes of LeMans.
Driving modes
Overall, Chiron has five driving modes that are selected from a dial on the shifter. Under normal conditions the car alone selects depending on the speed.
The last one, called “Top Speed” is only activated by a special key. It is a speed limiter for some of the future owners of this beast will not be tempted to reach 400 kmh on a highway. That speed is reserved for sports circuits.
Each mode introduces changes in suspension height, the hardness of the power steering, or the angle of the air intakes. The car, to put it crudely, is transformed to provide maximum comfort whether we climbed a narrow mountain road full of curves as if we sail along a highway.
Wheels
the brakes Chiron are larger 20mm and thicker than the Veyron 2mm to dissipate better hot. They are also lighter and are activated by pistons titanium variable pressure distributing friction optimally.
or rubber tires have been specially developped in collaboration with Michelin. Each gram of the rubber used not only holds a centrifugal force greater than 3,800 times gravity. They are also more affordable and easier to change than the Veyron. They are a 285/30 R20 on the front pair, and a 355/25 R21 at the rear.
aerodynamics and cooling
the aerodynamics of the vehicle is closely linked to the cooling, because the air flow entering for cooling engine also it produces a braking effect. The (almost) 1,500 Chiron horses require a huge cooling.
In total, Chiron has ten radiators. The main system pumps 750 liters of water per minute to a central radiator and two assistants. To this seven other independent radiators for systems such as intercooler, oil circuit of the engine, transmission, and hydraulic system.
add the air inlets that feed these radiators are distributed throughout the vehicle to minimize the braking effect. Major also have active diffusers and are motorized to suit different driving modes. Accelerate from zero to sixty in 2.5 seconds is not only a matter of engine technology and this beauty has to give and take. Not for less costing 2.5 million dollars. [Via Jalopnik]
