PREP ROUNDUP: GAC girls soccer defeats top-ranked St. Pius 3-1 – Gwinnett Prep Sports

NORCROSS – Class AA No. 2 Greater Atlanta Christian knocked off the top-ranked girls soccer team in Class AAA on Friday night with a solid 4-1 win at home over St. Pius.

Leading the way for GAC (11-2-1) with two goals and one Glisson was Reagan assist, while Anne Winfrey and Danielle Marcano each chipped in with one goal.

Halle Huff and Boyd Kaylann Also Helped the offense With One assist each .

GIRLS SOCCER

Mill Creek 6, Habersham 0

Hoschton – Six different players Scored for Mill Creek on Friday night as the Hawks posted a 6-0 shutout over visiting Habersham Central.

Navas Goal scorers Were Lauren, Brooke Wilson, Isabel Eigenbauer, Melissa Hanken, McClaine Logsdon and Madison Steimer. The win improved to 5-5 overall Mill Creek and 3-2 in Region 7-AAAAAA.

Peachtree Ridge 3, Mountain View 0

LAWRENCEVILLE – Peachtree Ridge ran its record to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in Region 7-AAAAAA with a 3-0 shutout of Mountain View on Friday night at Georgia College Gwinentt.

Amanda Ferry Scored the first goal off an assist from Sydney Kohne, while the second goal came from Erin Harris . Harris would later assist the third goal, Scored by Jordyn Missel.

The shutout went to keeper Morche Cosette.

Lanier 5, Madison Co. 1

SUGAR HILL – Lanier posted its fourth win in a row by beating Madison County 5-1 at home on Friday night.

Tori Wyant led the way with three goals and one assist. Ashley Burton and Maddie Corley Followed each with a goal and an assist, while Amy Groth chipped in with an assist.

Lanier improved to 7-3-1 overall and 3-0 in Region 8-AAAA.

Buford 10 White Co. 0

CLARKESVILLE – Scored three goals Brie Smith and Elexa Bahr added two goals with two Assists in leading Buford to a 10-0 romp at White County on Friday night

Tara Dambach, Ceely Coker and Abie Oates Recorded an assist each, while Lane Crawford had the shutout at keeper.

Buford upped its record to 10-2 overall and 6-2 in Region 7-AAA.

Westminster 3, Wesleyan 2

NORCROSS – After a scoreless first half, Wesleyan Westminster and engaged in a back and forth battle in the end 40 Minutes with Westminster hanging on for a 3-2 win on Friday night.

Westminster went up 2-0 before Christina Moraitis Scored off an assist from Taylor Wesleyan Panther to get back in the game at 2-1.

The Wildcats would again build a two-goal lead, but Ellie Hall Wesleyan Brought Within one at 3-2 with a goal from TJ Anderson’s assist.

Wesleyan, que fell to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in Region 6-AA, received solid defensive play Also at center back from Hope Morgan and Abbey Mitchell.

BOYS SOCCER

Mill Creek 3, Habersham 0

Hoschton – Mill Creek Habersham Central shut out 3-0 on Friday night in Region 7-AAAAAA action.

Noah Thomas played a part in every score for Mill Creek (8-2, 4-1) by scoring two goals and assisting the other to Billy Johnson. Ryan DeCook one of the goals assisted by Thomas, while Ernando Manrique had the other assist.

Peachtree Ridge 6, Mountain View 0

LAWRENCEVILLE -. Six different players Scored one goal each for Peachtree Ridge on Friday night as the Lions blanked Mountain View 6-0 at Georgia Gwinnett College

Scoring for the Lions Were Daniel Rodriguez, Sam Aiken, Ryan Fitton, Jung Nam, Anuj Sethi and Sahil Mahajan.

Archer 3 Walnut Grove 1

LAWRENCEVILLE – Archer topped Walnut Grove 3 – one on Friday night in a non-region match.

The Tigers (2-9) received one goal each from Thomas Long, John Conner and Justin Guevara .

Buford 3 White Co. 1

CLARKESVILLE -. Buford improved to 6-6-1 overall and 4-2 in Region 7-AAA on Friday night with a 3-1 win at White County

Goals for the Wolves Were Scored by Colin Taralah, Willy Uriostegui and Christian Salgado.

GAC 3 St. Pius 2 PKs

NORCROSS – Class AA No. 1 Greater Atlanta Christian kept its unbeaten record intact with a 3-2 win over No. 1 AAA St. Pius on Friday night, taking the match 5-4 in penalty kicks.

Both of the goals for GAC (14-0, 3-0 ) in regulation came from Nash Wagnon.

Westminster 6, Wesleyan 2

NORCROSS – Wesleyan fell at home to Westminster 6-2 on Friday night in a Region 6-AA match

Will. Both Sharon provided goals for Wesleyan (4-5-1, 0-2).

BASEBALL

Dacula 3 Archer 2

LAWRENCEVILLE – Johnathan Grant pitched . six strong innings for Dacula on Friday night as the Falcons held on for a 3-2 win at Archer in Region 8-AAAAAA

Grant (2 – 1) allowed two runs on three hits with two strikeouts, while Jack Peebles struck out the side in the seventh for his third save.

Austin Collins led the offense for the Falcons (8-7, 2-3), going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Ryan Vigue Also went 2-for-4, while Cooper and Cole Morgan Doubled Hays finished 1-for-3.

Hoschton – Mill Creek picked up a win in Region 7-AAAAAA by beating Peachtree Ridge 6-3 at home on Friday night.

Will Zimmer sparked the offense for the Hawks (8-8, 4-2) with a two-run homer. Austin Parham Also had two hits and an RBI, while Boyd Walker had a hit and drove in one run. Russell Klein pitched a complete game in securing the win.

Peachtree Ridge was led by Nick Gatewood, who had two hits and an RBI, while Drew Wharton and Best Blake each drove in a run.

Buford 10 West Hall 0

BUFORD – Connor Bennett allowed one hit with five strikeouts in five innings to lead Buford to a 10-0 shutout at home over West Hall in Region 7-AAA

Bennett Also went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI at the plate, while Patrick Burnette went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Also Joey Bart had two doubles and two RBI for Buford (12-0, 9-0).

BOYS LACROSSE

SANDY SPRINGS -. Steven Lee of Peachtree Ridge Accounted for nine points and five goals with Four Assists as Peachtree Ridge ran away with a 17-3 win on Friday night at Riverwood

Michael Pinkstaff, Rob Peterson and Ben Briggette Scored three goals each for the Lions (7-2) WITH Briggette adding an assist.

Dane Ashley led the defense for the Lions with six ground balls.

North 17, Mountain View 2

SUWANEE – Will Clayton and Luke Printz Scored four goals each for North Gwinnett on Friday night as the Bulldogs rolled to a 17-2 win at home over Mountain View

.

Clayton and Nathan Howell Assists each had two as North improved to 11-0 overall and 6-0 in Area 4-AAAAAA.

GIRLS LACROSSE

North 21, Mountain View 5

SUWANEE – North Gwinnett stayed unbeaten in Area 4-AAAAAA with a 21-5 win at home over Mountain View on Friday night

.

Lauren Aycock led North (9-2 overall) WITH five goals, while freshman Haley tallied four goals Gorke, two draw controls, two ground balls and one forced turnover.

The defense was led by North for Kara Jones with six forced turnovers and five ground balls and keepers Delnero Victoria Wood and Maddie.

Wesleyan 16, Brookwood 5

NORCROSS – Wesleyan upped its record to 6-4 on Friday night with a 16-5 win at home over Brookwood.

Anna Brown led the offense with Four goals for Wesleyan, while Gabby Hernandez Both led the Wolves in ground balls and draw controls.

GAC 13, SW DeKalb 8

NORCROSS -. Scored Seven different players for Greater Atlanta Christian on Friday night in helping the Spartans to a 13-8 win at home over Southwest DeKalb

Catie Wood led the attack with four goals and one assist, while Abby Gipson added a pair of goals and three Assists. GAC (4-6) Also Benefited from three goals by Savannah Gray.
