NEW YORK – Have you ever wondered who has seen your Instagram profile? That was a very popular iPhone application … until they realize that your password Instagram stole.
Apple has just withdrawn the application InstaAgent iTunes App Store.
InstaAgent was a popular application in Canada and the UK, but was available worldwide. Almost 500,000 people downloaded the tricky application. All those people should immediately change your password Instagram … and everywhere else where will use that password.
This is the latest sign that bad things can still sneak into the Apple application store but the company cares jealously test.
Apple did not respond to calls from CNNMoney.
People downloaded InstaAgent because it promised a function that Instagram not provide to its customers: find out who takes a look at your profile.
“This kind of third-party applications violate the guidelines of our platform and are probably attempts to access user accounts in inappropriate ways,” said Instagram.
In some cases, applying the freedom to publish any pictures in Instagram account, including advertisements for others unload InstaAgent was taken.
David Layer-Reiss, a German 16 years creating their own iPhone applications in their spare time, who discovered this situation. He talked about how he CNNMoney discovered.
On Monday, November 9, InstaAgent unloaded and examined the information that was sent from your phone. The coding revealed that InstaAgent was transmitting your username and password in plain text to a mysterious server.
That server is owned by ZunaMedia.com, but it is not clear who owns the site. The registered iOS developer who created InstaAgent is Turker Bayram. CNNMoney could not locate any developer of software with the name. Layer-Reiss, the teenager who revealed this, said he was concerned that the email accounts and banks half a million people were kidnapped if they use the same username and password everywhere.
