The smartphones cheaper Nokia push Windows Phone ... - The Mundo.es

Windows Phone platform Microsoft achieved a market share of 9.2% in the smartphone operating system in the main European markets, driven models of low and medium range of Nokia , says research firm Kantar.

During the three months to August, the Windows Phone platform reached a market share of over 10% for the first time in France and the UK, with 10.8% and 12% , respectively.

Nokia, which just sold its mobile phone business to Microsoft, is the main user of the Windows platform and the driver of the increase.

“These models are going strong among people aged 16 to 24 years and 35 to 49 years , two key groups seeking a balance of price and functionality in their smart phones,” he said.

Google Android, which is mainly advanced phones from Samsung and Sony among others, continued to be the main platform in major European markets including Britain, France, Italy and Spain .

The Android market share grew to 70.1% from 68.8% in the same period last year. Apple’s iOS platform was the second largest with a market share of 16.1%, two percentage points higher than last year.

BlackBerry

delves into its crisis and its market share is reduced by more than half, to 2.4% from 5.8%.
