Apple accused of lying about storage capacity … – The Universe

The US group Apple is the subject of an application for users who accuse him of misleading advertising on the storage capacity of some of its iPhone smartphones, tablets iPad and iPod music players, according to a lawsuit consulted by AFP Friday.

The company guarantees a capacity of 16 Gb on some of their cheaper models, but about one-fifth is used by the latest version of its operating system (iOS 8), so that the space actually available is much lower, according to the lawsuit filed this week by two users Florida (southeast) before a court of California (west).

When the unit reaches its storage limit, Apple urges users pay for more space in your cloud service iCloud online highlights.

Apple “gives less storage than promotes, and later sell this space, in a moment of desperation, by such as when a consumer tries to record a video or take pictures of a concert, a basketball game or the marriage of a child or grandchild, “says the lawsuit.

According to the text, each missing gigabyte represents between 400-500 photos in high resolution.

Attorneys for the plaintiffs seek to obtain the status of action collectively, so that in case of a conviction, it could force Apple to pay all the profits from the sale of the devices in question.

The IT group did not respond to inquiries from the AFP.
