Madrid, 16/01/2015 (The People’s Daily Online) – A National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) team has found a new key molecular mechanism for the formation of the skin. In the formation of human skin involves a cascade of yet well known biochemical signals, but very important because their failures cause diseases that affect more than a quarter of humanity-from atopic dermatitis skin-cancers, announced today the CNIO in a press release.
The work of this center now contributes to unveil the process discovering “one of the key links”, a new mechanism that regulates the differentiation -evolución- cells that make up most of the epidermis, keratinocytes.
In addition, it was found that this mechanism could be involved in skin cancer. Specifically, researchers have identified Fra-2 protein whose precise function in the skin was unknown until now as a key element in the differentiation of keratinocytes: if Fra-2 is not activated and no differentiation skin therefore not completely formed.
