NASA solves mystery of 'jam donut' found on Mars - Periódico Zócalo

Washington -. The American Space Agency (NASA) has solved the mystery of a strange rock found on Mars in late January, which seemed to come from nowhere and popularly dubbed as the “jelly donut” by its peculiar appearance, similar to that of this sweet.

What surprised scientists was not only his strange appearance, but above all, they did not find explanation for how it got there as it was only in the second two pictures taken just two weeks apart by the robot Curiosity on same surface portion on the planet Mars.

NASA on Friday ended the mystery by explaining that the enigmatic “jelly donut” was nothing more than a piece broken off of a larger rock that had moved with their wheels the robot himself, a spacecraft that inspects the surface of Mars in search of new discoveries on this planet from the August 6, 2012.
