The Indian Satya Nadella, favorite to replace Ballmer with ... - Terra Peru

The race to decide the next manager of Microsoft could have ended where it began, as the software giant seems to have chosen the less risky path, electing one of their rising stars, Satya Nadella.

After a tough selection process that lasted five months, the list of contenders to six candidates, among which was Alan Mulally, CEO of Ford Motor, the favorite of investors pushing for a radical change in reduced the company.

Nadella is

winner, as expected, it will be for his innovative work in the growing business of server and tools that provide computing and online storage companies, a source with information about the search process said.

Nadella

in talks with the council, and probably request that Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates leaves office and help Nadella a closer way technology, two sources said.

It is unclear why the 46-year executive born in India that Gates would change his position. The presence of Bill Gates and current CEO Steve Ballmer on the board has deterred several external candidates who feared much resistance if to make fundamental changes, several sources told Reuters in recent months.

Nadella is admired for her role in the growth of cloud services company and search engine Bing, and as a technologist with marketing skills. Critics say he failed in an attempt to curb the dominance of Google in the business of search engines and Microsoft’s entry into the cloud computing was late and clumsy, allowing Amazon.com to mark the pattern when provide the companies with online computing platforms.

not clear yet if Nadella meets the desire of some investors of a radical change in the software maker after Ballmer announced his departure in August.

“From a technical standpoint, Mr. Nadella is a good choice,” said Rick Sherlund, an analyst at Nomura who publicly supported the need for an external candidate to transform Microsoft and maximize the benefit of shareholders.

“We do not want a continuation of the current direction of the company, so it will be important that Mr. Nadella is free to make the changes you want,” said Sherlund.

was just this need which became a leading candidate to Mulally in a couple of weeks ago when it became clear that the CEO of Ford and Microsoft were not on the same car.

“Yes (Mulally) had played his cards differently, could have ended differently,” the sources said about Ford CEO and noted that failure to submit a detailed plan to the board.

Mulally

the same race after it became clear that Microsoft’s interest had cooled retired.

While

external candidates Steve Mollenkopf, Qualcomm and Ericsson Hans Vestberg of gained ground, sources said, as committed more openly with the council. Although both eventually withdrew, Mollenkopf did after receiving the post of CEO at Qualcomm.
