Discover ‘Godzilla’, a new Earth-like planet – El Heraldo (Colombia)

new star is 17 times heavier than the surface of the Earth.

Astronomers at the Harvard-Smithsonian Institute discovered the so-called “Godzilla land”, a planet that, unlike famous movie monster, “will bring positive implications for life,” said Dimitar Sasselov as he, director of the Origins of Life program at Harvard University.

The huge rocky planet orbiting a star 560 light years from Earth, has made rethink various scientific theories, such as determining a planet that captures both hydrogen gas during its formation can only become a gas giant similar to Jupiter and not in a rocky mass.

The findings were presented Monday at the 224. meeting of the Astronomical Society of the U.S. (American Astronomical Society).
