Scientists at the University of Utah have discovered a new dinosaur species, they have called Nasutoceratops titusi

because he possessed a head with a big nose and huge horns. Paleontologists have explained that belongs to the family triceratops, but “is out of the norm for this group.”

Mark Loewen, author of the investigation explained that the horns and nose for this species were by far “the largest” family any dinosaur. Horns are curved to the sides and forward.

Loewen said: “Never seen anything like it” and “not even one might assume the existence of this animal.” Study of the University was published in the biweekly magazine Proceedings of the Royal Society

.

Among its features, in addition to its huge nose horns, points out that the dinosaur was herbivorous, was about five feet long, had a sort of scalloped neck behind the head and weighed about two tons and a half.

dinosaur bones were found in 2006 and had not confirmed that it was a new species because it took ages to clean accurately reconstruct fossil animal characteristics, as Loewen, who also works to the Museum of History Natural Utah.

class=”c7″> fossils were found in rocks about 75 million years, making it possible to say that the Earth dinosaur lived during the Cretaceous period.

class=”c7″> Experts have noted that fossils were found in southern Utah desert, which once belonged to a continent called Laramidia (who years later became part of North America).

class=”c7″> this site is considered as a place rich in fossils, as they have found other two types of dinosaurs with horns and one duckbill (hadrosaurs). These were found near Nasutoceratops titusi , suggesting that the creatures could coexist.
