Discovered in Antarctica the largest crater ever seen - TN.com.ar

was found by CryoSat European Space Agency.

appeared after a lake located about 3 kilometers under ice and as much water as it drained Loch Ness suddenly. And there it was. The largest crater ever seen, Antarctica. The discovery was made by the CryoSat satellite of the European Space Agency (ESA).

discovery gave a strong interest of scientists in ice sheets covering Antarctica, where there are lakes that have no direct connection with the ocean . The intention is to try to understand the transport of water and ice dynamics beneath the frozen surface.

The importance of the discovery? Each subglacial lake is a new hope for finding prehistoric marine life . So far, 400 lakes were found at the base of the Antarctic ice cap.
