Google announced a new Android and charged again for the home … – lanacion.com (Argentina)

SAN FRANCISCO During the week, Google deployed in this city all his paraphernalia 5500 came against developers around the world to a two-day conference (called I / O, computer acronyms that represent input and output data) where they have the ability to have direct meetings, workshops and lectures by people who create the products on which they make applications, online services, and so on. Is also an opportunity for Google to make some announcements of new products, all focused on the marathon opening speech of just over two hours.

I Spy

For many this keynote was a disappointment: no revealing paratroopers goggles Google Glass, a few years ago. There were also no new product lines and, indeed, hardly some strategic initiatives that are investing a lot, like the presence of Android in cars, autonomous vehicles or balloons that carry Internet to remote areas mentioned.

But it was interesting ads, many common user very close to the foot, and showing where the real strength of the company: to make his formidable power of data processing products that are permitted (for use a word closely related to the world Apple) almost magical.

The new Google Photos allows you to store, without limitation, up to 16 megapixel photos and videos in Full HD (compression applied to them, but the result promises company, is indistinguishable from the original to the human eye). But it does more: organize photos automatically recognizing what they show. Classified by the geographical location using labels that sum camera or, in the case of older images, if you recognize the place where they were taken. The grouped by topic unaided. Understand the difference between a wedding, a football game or a dinner with friends. It allows you to search among all these pictures of us. Detects if we have a picture of the dog on the beach and is able to differentiate breeds or display photos in which we are jumping or with a beer in hand. Without more help than the phenomenal power of Google image analysis, of course. Flickr unveiled a similar service a few weeks ago.

Building on the interest there is in the virtual reality, the company updated Cardboard (virtual reality goggles made from inexpensive cardboard) for phones that support up to 6 inches or iPhone, and he announced two things. He opened the game for others to build the ring with 16 cameras that create immersive worlds (which are visited with goggles), offering free design and enabling a program for school children that creates virtual content (three-dimensional, immersive, to do with the glasses) to be used as a supplement in the classroom

Google also confirmed the arrival of Android M in the coming months. Lollipop’s successor (which is slowly coming to market devices) does not change the visual, but it gives more power to the common user. In addition to providing content classified by age (such as PC games and consoles) to help the family consumption, will also include more control over the permissions you give to an application when installed, to protect user privacy. Android M also bring greater battery life of your phone or tablet as it detects when the computer is not in use (resting on the table, etc.) and puts it into a sleep mode (without losing the possibility to receive calls or chat messages).

The company also announced Android Pay, a payment platform style apple pay, which allows using the phone as an electronic wallet, and turned over another project presented here in 2012 and came to nothing: Android @ Home. Now back with more ambition: it’s shine and, like its predecessor, is a platform for connecting devices that are not computers (so-called Internet of Things, where the refrigerator, the air conditioning and the windows can be managed remotely) but beyond that, as it is a platform that can be used in industry. It has, however, many competitors in this space, which is one of the highest growth in recent years, but which has the ability to leverage the popularity of Android to try to dominate this segment.

Virtual Reality inexpensive

Unlike in other years, this time there was spectacular shots. Instead, Google showed a series of technologies for the end user, including the new version of their economic VR goggles and Brightness, a platform revamped for the Internet of Things .
