Google launches free music service – El Nuevo Herald

Google will add a free option to its online music service, in order to win over the millions of people who click through the Google Play Music app but will when asked for payment information. At the moment this option is available only in the United States.

The service uses Songza an online radio app that Google acquired a year ago but whose innovations are reserved for paying customers.

Now the lists prepared by the experts of Sngza as “Drop-a-Beat Workout” and “Songs to Raise Your Kids To” be free to users in the US, mixed with advertising. There will also be automatically generated playlists by genre, songs or artists.

Google expects the option Free encourage users to pay $ 10 a month for a plan for “full access” to access the on-demand commercial-free music, listen without being connected to internet app use YouTube Music Key, a streaming service still in development that includes videos.

Zahavah Levine, vice president of content partnerships for Google Play Music, said that the free version will attract curious users.

“So far, this has been a missed opportunity to attract more people,” he said.
