According to Matt Jakubowski, American security researcher, a doll can be hijacked by hackers to start spying on children .
“Hello Barbie” is considered the first interactive doll in the world to listen to children and respond via voice in a similar way as they do Siri Cortana Apple or Windows; this using a Wi-Fi. But Jakubowski told the “NBC” cyber criminals can easily access the information system of the wrist, account information, stored audio files and even directly access the microphone .
The expert notes that the doll only overhears a conversation when a certain button and the recorded audio is pressed is encrypted before being sent over the Internet, but when the hacker takes control of the wrist, these privacy features can be bypassed .
Mattel, maker of “Hello Barbie”, have not spoken to respect.
