IBM buys Ustream video streaming platform for $ 130 million – Yahoo Finance Spain

San Francisco (USA), Jan 21 (EFE) .- The technology company IBM announced the acquisition of the platform live video streaming today Ustream, based in San Francisco (USA), in a deal worth 130 million dollars (119 million euros), according to The Wall Street Journal.

IBM said in a statement that the purchase is intended to help its customers leverage the potential of video, “a digital environment that is rapidly evolving.”

IBM did not disclose financial details of the deal but said the Journal purchase was closed for 130 million dollars (119 million euros).

IBM today said that Ustream has about 80 million viewers per month and its clients include companies such as NASA space agency, the technological Samsung and Facebook, the sports firm Nike and television channel Discovery Channel.

The company said the video division will be led by Braxton Jarratt and target the market for software services and video services the cloud, according to IBM estimates reach 105,000 million dollars (96,000 million euros) this year.
