NASA: Saturn and its dark rings in spectacular photo – La Prensa

When photos are taken in a direction opposite the Sun, most objects appear dark. Surprisingly, however, some of the Saturn rings look brighter, reports the NASA .

Parts of the main Saturn rings appear dark in bright retro views, particularly the ring B. However, some of the rings, which are comparatively fainter and are made powder particles tend to scatter light in the same direction in which it was traveling.

This is called “forward scatter” and for this phenomenon rings as F, apparently shine in this corner of the image.

Two moons floating above the rings from this perspective – Enceladus left and Janus right, indicates the agency NASA .

This image was taken in visible light with the camera Cassini . The view was obtained at about 1.2 million kilometers from Saturn. The brightness of Janus was increased to increase your visibility on the photo.
