Twitter facilitates process for checking accounts – 180

Twitter facilitates process to verify accounts

Twitter said Tuesday it is restructuring the process to create audited accounts, a proposal to boost the number of users with the blue icon.

the social network said it will launch an online application to verify accounts, which allows users to recognize public figures and organizations as authentic.

“We want to make it even easier for users to find creators and prominent people on Twitter, so it makes sense for us to leave people requesting checks,” said Tina Bhatnagar, vice president of services to users of Twitter.

“We hope that the opening of the application process will result in people to find better and qualified accounts to follow, and that those artists or prominent people to connect with a wider audience,” he added.

Twitter introduced checking accounts in 2009 and currently has 187,000 verified accounts of musicians, television personalities, film, the world of fashion, government, politics, religion, media , sports and business.

The audited accounts help increase the number of followers of those users and allow fans to be sure they are reading authentic commentaries.

Some examples of Twitter users are verified in Katy Perry, more than 90 million followers, and US President Barack Obama, with 76 million.
