MADRID, 3 Nov. (IRIN) –

The first total solar eclipse of the year takes place this Sunday and will be seen in Spain and will be ‘hybrid’, ie that at times will ring while in others is total. This phenomenon occurs 10 times in a century, as pointed out by the experts.

In southern Europe, the eclipse will be seen as biased. The maximum of the occultation will occur on 13.30 and 13.50 Sevilla in Barcelona, ??still the best place to watch throughout the continent, Canarias. There you can see maximum concealment 30 percent of the solar disk on 1310 (GMT).

Despite being one of the most spectacular celestial phenomena is not easy to see a total solar eclipse, as it happens in a narrow strip on the surface of the planet. Therefore, the European project GLORIA (Global Network of Robotic Telescopes), will hold a live broadcast of the phenomenon from Kenya, through the web ‘glory-project.eu’.

Institute investigator de Astrofisica de Canarias (IAC) Miquel Serra-Ricart, coordinate the expedition that will delve inside Sibiloi National Park, a place that is crossing point for migratory birds and Heritage fossil site of Humanity (UNESCO, 1997). It is also known as ‘The Cradle of Mankind’.

“This eclipse is very difficult to observe because it only touches down on a strip of central Africa,” stated the Spanish scientist, who explained that, to choose the right place, has taken into account not only the visibility of the eclipse, but also the likelihood of good weather conditions, the availability of food, water, decent roads and of course, the security of your computer.

Kenya 2013 is the third issue of Serra-Ricart to Africa, to observe an eclipse. In 2001, he experienced the amazing silence that in the noisy jungle, during the two minutes of totality that had the eclipse in northern Zimbabwe. “During an eclipse, the animals are put to sleep, as if night had fallen and we need to ensure routes being outside hunting of large predators such as lions,” he noted.

For this November 3 expected a phenomenon “particularly memorable” because the Sun is currently at the peak of its cycle 24. “We expect a beautiful symmetrical crown this time,” he said.

Finally, experts have warned those who do not see it on the website that “it is vital not to look at the Sun without using safety glasses specially designed for solar observation.”
