Hawking hopes nuclear fusion that will solve the problem … – La Vanguardia

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Sep 27 (EFE) .- Physicist Stephen Hawking said today that the technological breakthrough that would like to see in the next hundred years is nuclear fusion because with it the planet’s energy problem would be solved and we would save greenhouse gas effect.

Stephen Hawking gave this answer to one of the questions chosen by Starmus Festival, which since Monday in Canary joins science, music and art, and which has now been closed with a lecture by British physicist.

Hawking, that when you got to choose between traveling to the Big Bang or the future chose the second choice because, he said, you know what happened in the past, said that there may be similar planets to Earth but does not believe in the existence of UFOs.

Nor does Stephen Hawking there’s a conspiracy of the United States government to hide the evidence that UFOs exist and thus stay with all the alien technology.

In reply to another winner quiz Stephen Hawking said that the more more mysteries there is discovered, so do not think that once the investigations are over, and explained that in their field, the fundamental physics and cosmology not the implications of string theory are understood, and did not even know if it is correct.

He added that no one has thought of the nature of matter and dark energy, if they are particles, fields, or modifications of the theory.

Stephen Hawking also joked and sent the message that black holes are not black like paint and can leave them both outward as possibly in another universe, so he said if anyone feels it is in a black hole should not give up because no output.

During his talk on black holes Stephen Hawking said black holes have an edge, called the event horizon, beyond which no return and falls for him.

Hawking also spoke in application of quantum mechanics, if a particle falls into a black hole or your partner may not fall, and in the second case is what gives rise to the radiation emitted by black holes.

The antiparticle falling into the black hole can be considered as a particle that is traveling to the past, Hawking said.

He added that when a particle falls into a black hole information could be lost, which would be bad because during the last two hundred years have believed in scientific determinism.

Hawking mentioned Laplace, who said that if the state is known Universe in an instant the laws of science will be determined in the future, and believed that Laplace did not say that God does not exist but does not intervene to break the laws of science and that, he added, should be the position of every scientist.

The British physicist noted that according to Laplace need to know the position and velocity of all particles at all times to predict the future, but according to the uncertainty principle, the more precisely the position is known, the less accurately you can know the speeds, and vice versa.

Then he asked Hawking, how to predict the future accurately , and he replied that one can predict the quantum state, something from which one can calculate both the speed and position with high accuracy.

For Stephen Hawking, if determinism fails with black holes can fail on other issues.

indicated that from the outside of a black hole can not be sure whether or not there, which is always the possibility that there are no.

But I also asked if it is possible to fall into a black hole and come out in another universe, and replied that it should have a hall to the other universe in this case, but could not return.
