Asteroid impact with Earth, just a rumor: NASA – The Universal

The Internet is an endless source of positive things. It allows us to connect, enjoy content that was previously difficult to access (and often free) and see the world digitally. But it is also an ideal development of rumors , place and one of them made the NASA out to clarify an alleged imminent danger to Earth .

Faced with various publications on websites that speak of a asteroid impact on the planet during the second half of September, the US agency was categorical in stating that such risk does not exist.

“There is no scientific basis nor a shred of evidence-that an asteroid, or other celestial object impact Earth on that date,” said Paul Chodas, office manager of nearby objects Earth (NEOs, for its acronym in English) of the Jet Propulsion Lab of NASA.

Chodas was responding to viralizado rumor indicating that the asteroid would impact September near Puerto Rico, damaging significantly the eastern United States and Mexico , in addition to parts of Central and South America.

According to the statement from NASA, areas all potentially hazardous asteroids are less likely to 0 01% of impacting our planet for the next hundred years.

“If there was an object capable of causing such destruction in September, and would have seen something,” said Chodas.

The agency also reviewed some of the similar rumors have emerged in the past and who have not completed scenarios danger to life on the planet: in 2011 there was talk of danger of comet Elenin , which eventually split into a number of smaller pieces in space .

A year later, he spoke of the end of the world by the end of the Mayan calendar, and this year spoke of the risks brought asteroids 2004 and 2014 YB35 BL86, which then passed without causing any damage .

“Again, there is no evidence that an asteroid, or other celestial object is on a trajectory that will hit the Earth. In fact, none of the known objects is a credible possibility of colliding with our planet over the next century, “he said Chodas.
