Death of Ian Murdock, founder of Debian – FORTUNE

(EFE) – The founder Debian , Ian Murdock member of the Linux Foundation and one of the greatest exponents of free software died this week at age 42, said Thursday the blog Docker open platform developers.

Murdock was chief technology officer of the Linux Foundation, in 2003 he became vice president of Sun Microsystems until the company was acquired by software maker Oracle.

He later developed systems in the cloud and went to work for the company Salesforce.

Last November, Murdock left the company to join Docker, an open platform for software developers.

The death of Murdock comes after Monday published a few tweets about a confrontation with police.

That same day Murdock apparently posted a tweet in which he said he was going to commit suicide, although the circumstances of his death still They have not been clarified.
