Barcelona already have everything ready to receive a new Mobile World Congress (Mobile World Congress, MWC), the biggest event in the world dedicated to mobile telephony, which in its eleventh edition is expected to draw 95,000 attendees.
The meeting will be held from 22 to 25 February at the fairgrounds located in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, near Barcelona city.
This weekend, before the conference is scheduled to some of the major exhibitors such as Samsung, Nokia, Huawei and ZTE, announced as a prelude of some of its global Mobile news.
Figures from the Mobile growing in each edition and the number of participants has doubled in the last decade, from 51 thousand visitors from 2006, when he stayed in Barcelona for more than 95,000 expected for this year.
The total economic impact generated in the city and its area of influence is estimated at almost 3,500 million euros, of which 460 million correspond to this edition.
The main drawback to live the MWC this year will be the mobility on public transport, as there are called strikes in the Metro, city buses and trains, although organizers say they have alternative transportation options.
As in previous years, King Philip VI will preside on Sunday 21 official welcome dinner, with local and regional authorities.
