The US space agency (NASA) will launch a space telescope with a 100 times larger than the Hubble mid view the 2020s, following the launch of the James Webb in 2018.

After years of preparatory studies, NASA said in a statement the official start of astrophysics mission Wide Field Infrared Survey telescope (WFIRST) which will help unlock the secrets of the universe.

it is expected that WFIRST contribute to solving the mysteries of energy and dark matter, to explore the evolution of the cosmos, to discover new worlds beyond the solar system and advance the search for worlds that might be suitable for life.

“This mission uniquely combines the ability to discover and characterize planets beyond our own solar system and the optical sensitivity to look broadly and deeply in the universe in search of solving the mysteries of dark energy and dark matter, “said John Grunsfeld, astronaut and associate administrator directory . NASA science missions

the new observatory will analyze long regions of the sky with rays of near-infrared light to answer fundamental questions about the structure and . the evolution of the universe, and expand the knowledge of the planets found beyond the solar system

Comparing data from different instruments observatory, scientists can better understand the physics and the origin of the atmosphere and search chemical signals in environments suitable for life

. the launch of telescope is scheduled for mid 2020. EFE
