Google announced today the addition of a music subscription service free advertising and a new format easier to find millions of songs which can be heard for free.

The change includes “Music Key ”, a subscription service that has been the subject of rumors for months as Google Inc. dealt with the labels for the issue of licenses.

YouTube announced an option exclusively dedicated to music on your website and mobile applications. This option is designed to provide 1,000 million site users to find specific songs and entire albums, even if they are not subscribers.

At first Music Key will be offered by invitation only United States, Britain, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Ireland and Finland.

The first offerings will be shipped the next YouTube users who have a history of seeing many music videos week. Anyone interested can request an invitation at http://YouTube.com/MusicKey.

After a free trial period of six months, temporarily Music Key will cost $ 8 per month, before boarding its standard price of $ 10 a month. That’s comparable to other digital music subscription services sold by Spotify, Apple Inc. Beats and streaming service of your store based on Google Android Play. Key Music subscribers can use the Google Play streaming service at no additional charge.

In addition to removing commercials, Music Key will give subscribers the ability to continue listening to songs on cell phones and tablets when the application is closed and the option to download songs to listen without internet connection. These songs can only be heard in the mobile app Music Key.

The subscription service is part of efforts by Google Inc. to extract more revenue from YouTube when the video portal is approaching its tenth anniversary. Google acquired YouTube for $ 1.700 billion in 2006, a price that some analysts questioned at the time because the service was barely income was drowning in complaints about violations of intellectual property because it had music videos and movie pirates.

When Google took the reins, YouTube introduced a more stringent system to block pirated videos in order to eliminate the problem of the violation of the copyright. Now the labels used YouTube to promote songs and artists.

The advertisements placed by these music videos have generated over 1,000 million for the artists and the record labels, according to Google .

YouTube is expected to sell 7,200 billion in advertising this year, based on estimates of the firm eMarketer. Google has never disclosed how much revenue flowing through YouTube.

Music Key will do well if it attracts enough subscribers to generate $ 500 million in revenue after its first year of operation, said Mark Mulligan, an industry analyst with Midia Research.

Most of the music subscription services have rights to the same catalogs, which makes it particularly important to their ability to learn user preferences in order to create lists sexy music playing. Music Key, however, will also offer the ability to see the artists performing the songs, plus audio.
