China successfully launches new carrier rocket – China Radio International

China successfully launched a new model of carrier rocket, Long March-6, at 7:01 pm (local time) on Sunday, from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, located in the northern province of Shanxi.

The rocket carrying a set of microsatellite space 20, which will be used at multiple spatial tests.

The new rocket, powered by a liquid propellant made of liquid oxygen and kerosene, has become the first Chinese carrier rocket employing free fuels toxicity and pollution, said an official of the Corporation for Science Aerospace and China, Gao Xinhui.

“The use of such propellant can reduce costs by a considerable margin,” he said.

The chief designer of the Academy of Space Technology Shanghai Aviation Corporation Aerospace Science and Technology of China, Zhang Weidong said the new rocket also “reformed the way they are tested and carrier rocket launch in China. ”

“The load test and positioning were completed while the rocket Long March-6 was in a horizontal position before it is raised to a vertical position for launch,” said the engineer.

“I believe that (the Long March-6) drive greatly competitiveness of Chinese in the international market launch vehicles. The new model also will significantly improve our ability to access space,” he said Zhang.

Today’s launch has proved the feasibility and accuracy of the rocket design and other new technologies.

This new model will be used primarily for the launch of microsatellites.

This rocket is the 210th mission by the Long March family of rockets. In 1970, a Long March-1 rocket sent the first Chinese-made satellite “Dong Fang Hong 1″ (meaning in Chinese “The East is Red”) into orbit.
