Facebook and Microsoft will connect the United States and Europe with its own submarine cable – TN.com.ar

Microsoft and Facebook companies came together to build a new cable underwater Internet to cross the Atlantic Ocean and will transport customer information between North America and southern Europe .

the new submarine cable will link Virginia Beach, United States, with the Basque town of Sopelana in Spain, with the aim of speed communications data centers and servers of the two technology giants on both sides of the Atlantic ocean . The project has been dubbed “Tide” and have the ability to transmit 160 terabits per second 16 million times faster than a home Internet connection, making it the transatlantic cable with wider band there.

technology companies indicated that helped design the high-speed cable to transfer data from its growing number of Internet clients and customers commercial.

Internet companies often pay to use cables owned telecommunications providers , but the new project will not be the first by a US technology company. Google has invested in underwater projects that cross the Pacific.
