Razer purchase THX for bringing the games to another level – CNET in Spanish

Razer, the company manufacturer of keyboards, mice, and other peripherals designed for gamers, has unveiled its new move on the chessboard of the world of gaming. It is the acquisition of THX, a company known for its work to bring the best sound to movies, stereos, televisions, and of course, video games.

THX was created in 1983 by the very same George Lucas, to make sure that the movie Return of the Jedi generate the feelings appropriate in the cinemas. Since then, the brand has been certifying audio quality in consumer products such as televisions, Panasonic, audio devices Onkyo receivers and car Lincoln.

The chairman and ceo of Razer, Min-Liang Tan, and THX, Ty Ahmad-Taylor, said that the brand will not disappear and that both companies will continue to operate independently.

Razer hopes to apply the experience in sound of THX in areas such as virtual reality to obtain a “surround sound space,” said Tan, who also added that the patents in that area THX could be very valuable.

Companies such as Facebook and the glasses, Oculus VR acquired first technology of sound before releasing the virtual reality goggles. This could give us a hint of the future and the work that will be ahead of both companies. In fact, Razer is one of the leading companies that supports the Open Source Virtual Reality, an association of manufacturers of devices of this type that works in the evolution of this category.
