Physicist Stephen Hawking boycotting Israel - La Voz de Galicia - La Voz de Galicia

The famous British physicist Stephen Hawking will not participate in June at a conference in Israel in support of a boycott to protest the Israeli attitude towards the Palestinians. The author of the Big Bang theory canceled his presence as a speaker at “Facing Tomorrow” in a brief letter to Peres, whose content has not transpired.

The British Committee for Palestinian Universities said Hawking had decided to join the boycott and had, therefore, “declined the invitation.” However, the University of Cambridge, where the scientist works since 1962, justified the decision by “health problems,” according to AFP. For the first time in months Hawking, who suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), appeared in public last week following the deterioration of his health.

the afternoon, Israeli police faced a group of Palestinians protesting the march of thousands of Jews remembering the “unification” of the disputed city.
