A large sunspot “aim” toward the Earth in the next … – La Voz de Galicia

A large sunspot , located in the southern hemisphere of the Sun, will be ‘pointing’ towards the Earth in the coming days, that poses a risk to the planet in the event of a discards solar flare in that period. Solar photographer Alan Friedman has captured the spot, known as AR2192 with its camera.

The picture was taken last Sunday, in full visible light spectrum. Here you can see the huge AR2192 , the most visible, but also includes other sunspots as 2186 (upper extremity), 2187 (top center) and 2193 (the small cluster in the center). These regions are “cold” areas on the Sun’s surface.

As reported Spaceweather.com , AR2192 has grown considerably in recent days and has the potential to trigger flares-from the highest intensities X and M-class and could do towards the Earth in no time.

Experts have indicated that the stain is, today, much larger than the Earth and likely to become larger. In fact, during the partial solar eclipse that will take place this week, AR2192 will be visible to the naked eye (but unprotected) for viewers in North America.

Effects devastating to terrestrial technology

Expert The Weather Network Portal remember that should a large solar flare or even a combination of several midsize is desprendiese, its effect could “devastate our technologies [and our telecommunications], both those present on the planet Earth itself and in the present in outer space.”
