Physical appearance influences important decisions, according to studies – Reuters

October 22, 2014, 17:08 Washington, October 22 (PL) A research released today suggests physical appearance facial features influence such important decisions as who to vote for.

 Investigations into the subconscious association that generate different types of faces and personal characteristics that we attribute to them have been conducted for many years, the human brain relates, for example, physical appearance with competitiveness, dominance and friendliness.

The new study, led by Christopher Olivola, of American University Carnegie Mellon notes that people make use of facial attributes to make important decisions.

Our research goes beyond associating faces and personalities, and showing how these can influence major powers such as the election of leaders who we vote or judge for a crime decisions, Olivola

said. According to the researchers, being carried away by the features Facials can have serious consequences in areas such as legal and financial system.
