Alan Eustace, Google vice president, sets world record … – The World

In October 2012 Felix Baumgartner became the first human to break the sound barrier without mechanical assistance on an epic jumping from a height of 39,068 meters. The record lasted just over two years. Alan Eustace , vice president of Google company was able to complete successfully this morning a similar leap in Roswell, New Mexico, but from a height of 41,420 meters .

In total, jumping from Eustace, shown exclusively by The New York Times, has lasted 15 minutes and also served to break the record in speed of descent. Shortly after starting their fall special pressure suit recorded the 1 287 miles per hour . Event attendees have assured hear the “boom” generated by breaking the sound barrier.

The jump has been prepared with incredible discretion for the past three years. He has not received any commercial support or sponsorship. Eustace, in fact, refused help from his own company, Google, to broadcast the event. He has recorded the jump with a small camera attached to the hull of action and only a few media have been present. The American Parachute Association (USPA) has Certificate jump height .

The feat contrasts surprisingly with Baumgartner. Supported by an energy drink, jump Swiss became a media event with unprecedented live coverage from several points of view and almost two days of uninterrupted coverage.

The small team of the test is spent the last three years building the pressure suit that has allowed Eustace climb to the stratosphere. Unlike hop 2012, the engineer has not had a walk-promotion, but has anchored directly to helium balloons. Arriving at the height of the jump A small explosion has disengaged costume designed by Paragon Space Development Corporation, to begin fall.

Eustace joined Google in 2002 and has served as vice president in several strategic areas of the company, as searches or engineering. Prior to his work in the networking giant worked as a designer of processors in Digital, Compaq and HP. It is an aviation enthusiast and licensed pilot and skydiving for several years.
