Microsoft is hoping that more people use the next version of its Windows system in all types of devices, giving them greater access to the same applications they already use on Apple and Android phones.
In a radical change of strategy, a top executive said Wednesday to an audience of several thousand software developers that Microsoft will launch new tools to help them quickly adapt applications built for Apple and Android devices so they can function in smartphones, PCs and other devices with the Windows 10 operating system, to be launched in the coming months.
On the first day of the annual conference of software company, other executives showed more uses for holographic lens of “augmented reality” of Microsoft, the HoloLens, although no go on sale.
